Hopes and Dreams

Hips so awesome they create balls of light. Like a Japanese anime!

I forgot to mention the coolest part of my costume. I used one of the Husband Person's old shirts to line the bra and belt cutting the front out so that I could keep the shirt pocket intact. It just fit sideways on the back of the belt.

The Husband Person asked, "What are you going to put in there? Your ID?"

"No," I said, "My hopes and dreams."

New Costume in Action

Pics from Saturday night's Greek Night 11/20/10 by Janice T.

I busted balls to get the costume not done, but wearable, for Greek Night. I have some trim left to add and the arm bands to finish. I also need to add a 2nd tighter set of hooks on the belt. It was so loose I had to strap it on with only safety pins. My boobs look totally awesome in that top pic.

And pics of the blue glitter dot costume that I revamped. Glitter dot is still completely itchy-scratchy even with a lining. The belt was loose on it too and held on with pins. I must have lost weight since sewing them on.

Almost There

Quick pics. I think I want to redo the bra fringe and make it a little less wide and a little more thick. I think I might keep the clothes pin clipped to the side. (just kidding)

Matching necklace made with ribbon and left over interfacing.

Halloweek

Wedding favors 10/30/10

I take the week of Halloween off every year. This year I spent almost the entire time playing Fallout 3: New Vegas. I managed a little bit of beading and a little bit of dance practice. I am pretty much over the bronchitis but my ribs still hurt when I dance.

Saturday, the Husband Person and I attended a wedding reception where he ran the sound equipment. On Halloween, we turned off our porch light, ate candy, and played New Vegas all night. And that's it. Spent my vacation in my pjs.

More costume detail pics for your viewing pleasure.

Oo-Ter-Us

Quick set of pics of my progress on the pink-holo costume. I struggled with the flower design I started with on the bra so I moved on to the belt and went with a heart design based loosely off of a Hanan bedlah design. I liked it much better. I ripped out all the bead work on the bra and even redid the center and side pieces.

I now lovingly call this the Uterus costume because of the pink heart that sits right over my lady parts. Check it, it's got a uterus, ovaries, and tubes.

LOL! I ruined it for you didn't I?

Zoom

I've assembled the cups and straps of the bra. The center is only tacked together so I can work on each side independently. I still can't decide if I want a completely removable belt or all one piece with the skirt. Originally, I didn't think I'd have enough material left over to make arm bands. But turns out I've plenty so I can make arm bands and cover a separate removable belt if I want. Decisions, decisions.

And even though I've upgraded my camera, I still have it on "email" quality for pics like this for my blog. I can fit a few thousand pics on the memory card this way. Blows my mind, technology.

New Camera + Costuming

More on the new costume:

Boulder Holders covered with felt and then fabric.

Side straps made from layers of interfacing, felt and covered with fabric.

Hobby Lobby score - beads were 50% off.

I am also in the process of taking apart my old blue glitter dot troupe costume and revamping it into something wearable. The old bra cups in it look like little tea cups compared to the soup kitchen bowl size bra cups I use now.

I'm really excited about my new camera =)

Halloweek

I stole this idea from the internets

I'm back to work today after having been off work since Oct 23rd. We started off the weekend with a trip to the In-Laws where we were given this compound bow, arrows, and a target as a gift. I shot the thing until my arm wouldn't work any more. It is super fun.

The Husband Person has been sick since Wednesday. He has the full on hacking crud now. Poor guy looks miserable. Our Halloween involved turning out the porch light, watching reruns of South Park in our pjs, and eating all the candy. We did make an appearance at a small costume party on Friday.

I didn't do any house chores but I did paint, bake, and spend quality time with the family. I also got some costuming work done. I've made a belt pattern from my best fitting favorite blue costume belt (shown in the upper left) and I've reinforced some bra cups ready to be covered with material from this post. I've dug out and started practicing an old choreo for the hafla in Springdale, AR. on the 14th. I'm looking forward to the trip.
